Performance Súdwâlfulkan

Residency at Hi-Lo, Vlieland (2025)

For our project via Artist in Space by Noordenaars, we researched folklore stories and witchcraft from the Wadden region.
During our residency at het Lage Noorden, we heard a story about a woman who feels attracted to the Súdwâlfulkaan,
which lies deep beneath the seabed south of Vlieland.
This woman believes this is the belly button of Mother Earth and wants to be as close as possible to this place because of its energetic forces.
Based on this story, we created a textile object in which we performed. Where the volcano, her energy,
and bodies that have turned to ash and are reborn come together.
